For Senate · St. Thomas–St. John · U.S. Virgin Islands
Derrick Callwood
Running for the Virgin Islands Senate because nearly thirty years of one-party rule has failed us. A former police officer and local businessman, ready to bring real opposition, real oversight, and real accountability.
It’s time to end the monopoly and restore competition.
Meet Derrick

Derrick Callwood is a former Virgin Islands police officer, a local businessman, and a proud St. Thomas resident — a candidate for the 37th Legislature.
“I’ve seen the cost of no opposition. Corruption cases. Failed oversight of WAPA. The same system confirming the same failures year after year.”
“I truly believe that I can contribute to our government in lowering the cost of living, bringing about affordable healthcare, and repositioning our territory as a leading model throughout the Caribbean islands.”
Derrick will bring real opposition, real oversight, and real accountability to the Legislature — someone in the room whose job is to expose problems instead of protect them.
The Cost of One-Party Rule
The same political system accepting the same failures year after year.
1 in 5
residents have left the territory — the population has dropped more than eighteen percent
2×
electricity costs forty to forty-three cents a kilowatt — more than twice the American average
44
homicides recorded in 2024 — a rate of fifty-one per hundred thousand, among the highest under the American flag
30 yrs
of one-party rule — and an education system that is simply not being prioritized
Priorities
What I'll fight for.
Stop Corruption
Demand accountability. Officials go to federal prison for bribery, yet the same leadership keeps getting re-elected.
Replace WAPA
Replace WAPA's failed model, demand real oversight, and fight for reliable power and lower power costs.
Safer Community
Safer streets and safer communities.
Education a True Priority
An education system that is finally treated as a priority.
Get Involved
You don’t have to leave your party.
You just have to decide that thirty years of one-party rule has not earned another two years.
Sign up to volunteer or receive updates, and the campaign will reach out as things get moving on St. Thomas and St. John.
Competition works.
